Easy Creamy and Hearty
I worked extra hard today so I chose this meal kit to make because it only had two ingredients to chop and seemed pretty easy and stress free. For the most part, that turned out to be the case. Stirring the roux and creamy sauce was a slight bit more time-consuming than I might have had energy for, but only by a little. All in all, it was pretty quick and easy to make.
The flavor was bold, with the earthy mushrooms working well with the garlic creaminess. The gemelli pasta is a firm, chewy pasta, so it really needed the bold, tasty sauce so it wouldn’t be the only thing you notice.
I’m not the biggest fan of pasta (Gail LOVES pasta), so it must have been pretty good for me to give it 4 stars for flavor. I wouldn’t necessarily crave it, but I’d enjoy eating it again once in a while.
Glance through the recipe instructions before you begin. Some recipes ask you to chop veggies in the middle of the process, usually while something else is cooking on the stove. I recommend ignoring those instructions. Instead, prep all your veggies before you do anything else. (You can preheat your oven during this time). If you are anything like me, trying to chop vegetables while watching over the cooking process will usually end up with overcooked or burned food, or even knicked fingers.
