I Just Can’t

Today’s Bloganuary prompt is:

What chore do you find the most challenging to do?

I’m not fond of chores at all, but there are some that are definitely more challenging than others for me. It mostly boils down to the height of the chore.

I can’t bend. I can’t reach the ground in any way, shape, or form, without massive unbearable pain. So if bending is involved, someone else needs to do that chore.

In addition, I have rosacea and numerous skin problems, so the outdoors environment is usually not kind to me.

Combine those two things, and the one chore that is the most challenging for me to do would have to be yard work.

  • I can’t weed.
  • I can’t plant flowers.

It’s important that our flower beds look nice, but if left to me, they’ll consist of nothing but dead flowers and live weeds.

Getting old sucks. Bending is my enemy.

It’s funny (not really) how time changes things in ways we never expect. And it seems to happen so fast. Have a great day!

It really does seem to happen overnight.

Thanks for sharing. That would be difficult. My brother made a seat on wheels for mum to scoot around the garden. It even has a small tray for her garden tools. It works cause her plants are potted and she has a small paved yard. Says she wouldn’t know where she would be without it.

Right, I’ve tried using similar solutions, but it doesn’t really work well because I don’t have any paved areas. Seats just sink into the ground. One day, though, perhaps I’ll figure out a way.

Donna, I’ve never been very good at gardening, but I do understand. I’m wondering if there are tools for gardening that are made for people like you and me? Tools with smaller working heads so as not to damage the flowers. I’ll have to google that and see what I can find. For indoor use, I find the Swiffer tools most helpful for reaching places that would cause me to bend otherwise.

If you find anything, please let me know!

Indeed, getting old does come with its challenges. I wish you well.
