The Second Sun Basket Meal Kit We Tried
Ok, round two for our experience with Sun Basket meal kits. The first one fared pretty well, so how does this one stack up?
Not Terrible, Not Great
These pesto pizzettes got mixed reviews in our house, but no one loved them. I thought they tasted better than I expected but still not great. Gail thought they were edible. Not exactly high praise there.
The mushrooms and tomatoes are meant to be “sides”, but that made no sense to me, so after a couple of bites, I decided to slice the mushrooms up and throw them on the pizzas. That worked well, and all in all, I liked them. Not loved. Just liked.
Gail made a few faces along the way. She’s a trooper though, and eats whatever is put in front of her. That’s what she did today. She ate it. Because it was there. That’s about as enthusiastic as she got. She gave it a 3, but honestly, I think she really wanted to give it a 2. She just hates disappointing me.
Do You Love Pesto?
If you love pesto, there’s a decent chance you’ll enjoy this meal. If you’re just so-so on pesto, well, you’ll probably be so-so or less on this meal.
Asparagus Should Never Snap In My Mouth
Yeah, snappy asparagus is not a thing. At least not here. I like my asparagus to be soft, and this recipe makes it anything but soft! We aren’t into crunch-a-muncha asparagus, so if you aren’t either, don’t follow the instructions in this recipe. Snap, crackle, and pop is for Rice Krispies, not asparagus!
Give Me Enough Ingredients!
The one tiny sliver of roasted pepper wasn’t enough, dang it. Two tiny slivers would have been okay, but one? Nah.
Disappointing round, Sun Basket. I didn’t hate it, but I was a bit disappointed.
