Turkish Dijon Salmon Over Couscous meal kit

Turkish Spiced Dijon Salmon with Creamy Sauce over Couscous, and Apple Arugula Salad

My very first experience with a meal kit delivery service. I made Turkish Spiced Dijon Salmon with Creamy Sauce over Couscous, and Apple Arugula Salad. Sounds fancy and a bit intimidating for a non-cook like me. It was fancy but I am no longer intimidated. I did this, thanks to Hello Fresh!

This was the very first experience I’ve had with any kind of meal kit delivery service. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I won’t make you wait. Hello Fresh made a huge impact on my life, starting with this delivery.

Everything was neatly included in a paper bag. There were just enough ingredients so that there would be no real waste. The recipe directions card was clear and easy to understand.

I totally enjoyed making my first Hello Fresh dinner. So how did it turn out?

This flavorful dish has a touch of elegance in its presentation. Great flavor, easy prep and cleanup makes this a winner.

The spice mix is hot, so I had to leave it off of Gail’s fish, FYI. I’m generally not a salmon fan, but that’s mostly because I have encountered it in the smoky variety most often. Not a fan of smoked anything. But this wasn’t smoked…so this was good. I practically licked the plate. And the best part….it was pretty easy. I think it came out looking great and tasting pretty darn good too. So far, Hello Fresh is fantastic.

Elegantly good
  • Flavor (5 = best)
  • Prep Time (5 = short and easy)
  • Difficulty Level (5 = easiest)
  • Cleanup (5 = quickest)

Elegant, flavorful, easy…these describe a meal that made me giddy. Since this was my first experience with a meal kit, I think that says a lot about it.

Glance through the recipe instructions before you begin. Some recipes ask you to chop veggies in the middle of the process, usually while something else is cooking on the stove. I recommend ignoring those instructions. Instead, prep all your veggies before you do anything else. (You can preheat your oven during this time). If you are anything like me, trying to chop vegetables while watching over the cooking process will usually end up with overcooked or burned food, or even knicked fingers.
