This is definitely one of the easiest meals to prepare, cook, and clean up after. Even better, it’s the kind of dish that pretty much everyone will love – from kids to adults. One of the reasons I blog about these meal kits is so that I’ll remember what we liked and what we didn’t like. I want to remember that this meal kit is perfect for days that I’m tired, don’t want to work too hard in the kitchen, but I want something very tasty at the end of the process. If that’s the kind of meal you’d like, order this one when you see it as a choice.

Of course, we always have sour cream in the fridge, and I added a blob to each plate – IN ADDITION to the sour cream included in the kit. The kit had enough sour cream for most people, I guess, but we’ll almost always add more. I probably should have added a little more salt as well.

Let’s talk about salt… Actually, I’ll just talk, and pretend you’re talking back. Please do talk back in the comments below if you’d like to discuss salt as well. And really, what could be more interesting than discussing salt, right? 🙂 (Ok tons of things would be more interesting, but hey…let’s not get off-topic).

The one thing that always bothers me about any of the meal kit recipes is they always say to add salt and pepper, but they don’t give any hints about HOW MUCH to add. This seems to be common regardless of which meal kit company I use. I know it’s supposed to be “to taste” but some of these recipes tell me to add salt and pepper to various steps throughout the process. I imagine if I added enough to taste good at each step, by the time it was finished, it would be like pouring salt on my tongue. (I could be wrong about that…I don’t know).

So, I don’t really bother tasting each time I add salt, because I figure it won’t help me know how it will all taste when everything is finished. Generally, I tend to add 3 or 4 pinches each time, but I really never know if that is reasonable or not.

Most days, I must guess right, because the dishes come out tasting great. Sometimes, I think I should have added a little more. I rarely think I should have used less, so I guess that’s a good thing.

Anyway, just a light rant about not being given enough direction in this aspect. To the meal kit makers: Don’t tell me to just add salt and pepper. Give me some idea of how much you think I should add. I’ll adjust it in the future if I find that you were wrong.

Glance through the recipe instructions before you begin. Some recipes ask you to chop veggies in the middle of the process, usually while something else is cooking on the stove. I recommend ignoring those instructions. Instead, prep all your veggies before you do anything else. (You can preheat your oven during this time). If you are anything like me, trying to chop vegetables while watching over the cooking process will usually end up with overcooked or burned food, or even knicked fingers.
