What’s a Barramundi?
I’d never heard of barramundi before, but I now know that it is a healthy, sustainable, and tasty fish. It is sometimes called Asian Sea Bass and various other names. It’s packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, which we all need more of, but it has half the calories of salmon. It has a light taste, and doesn’t have a strong fishy smell when cooking, so it’s a fairly great fish.
What’s Farro Again?
I’ve had farro before, thanks to these meal kits, but just in case you haven’t read those posts yet, I’ll remind you what farro is. It’s a healthy ancient whole grain. If you’re familiar with quinoa, it is similar to that, and it’s a good substitute for rice.
Flavorful, Filling, Healthy, But Not Fantastic
I’m really starting to dig the taste of za’atar spice mix that has been included with several of the meal kit dishes I’ve cooked. It gives a dish a hearty, smoky flavor, without heat. That, combined with the marinated cucumber and radish salad, gave this meal lots of flavor. The fish was tasty, and I like the farro as well. The honey-lime shallot sauce tastes excellent too.
All in all, this was a good meal, but although there was plenty of flavor, I can’t imagine I’d wake up one day and say, “I need a good za’atar barramundi farro salad today!” It’s not THAT good. But then again, I probably wouldn’t say that about many meals that are good for me, so I figure that’s not a big minus.
Super Easy and Mess-Free
There was nothing difficult about the preparation or the cleanup. Easy and mess-free works for me every time.
Good and Healthy
Za’atar Barramundi and Farro Salad is a good, healthy, filling meal with plenty of flavor. That, combined with easy prep and cleanup, makes this dish a winner.
