My True Colors

Today’s Bloganuary prompt is:

What color describes your personality and why?

My first reaction to this prompt was to write about my favorite colors, but that wouldn’t necessarily answer the question. Maybe one of my fave colors describes my personality but maybe not. I decided to take an online color personality test. Of course, I’m not a believer in this kind of thing, but who cares. It’s just for fun.

I thought the results of the first test were way off, so I found a different test and took it. Oddly enough, it gave me the same color result as the first one, so I tried a completely different one from another site.

All three tests returned the same result.

They all said I’m red. Here’s a quote from one of the tests.

YOUR PERSONALITY COLOR IS RED

You are confident, determined, and ambitious. You can sometimes be a little impulsive and can be perceived as intimidating. Often the center of attention, red personalities are full of energy and know how to live life to the fullest.

I’m not sure I agree. Obviously, since I took three different tests, I didn’t think they got it right. I’d never have imagined myself as red. And red definitely isn’t one of my favorite colors, either. Not that I have anything in particular against red. Red is a perfectly fine color. Just would never have connected red to myself.

My True Colors 2

Yesterday, I had my hair colored, adding a cool shade of teal to my silver locks.

Teal would have been one of the colors I might have imagined would describe me, though I couldn’t give you a solid reason why.

And everyone who knows me well knows I love purple. So that might have been another color I would have chosen, but again, does that color describe my personality? No clue.

So, I don’t know. An ex of mine used to always say, “If everyone says you have a tail, you should turn around and look”. So okay, if all the tests say my color is red, maybe I should just believe them.

I do like to imagine myself as sassy. And red feels sassy. So, sure, let’s go with that. Why not?

Regardless, this prompt reminded me of one of my all-time favorite songs. Let’s begin the day (depending on where you live) with a little Cindi Lauper. True Colors.

This post is part of the WordPress Bloganuary Challenge for 2023, where everyone participating is provided a writing prompt each day. Today’s prompt was to write about color describes me and why.

Interestingly, purple sits exactly halfway between red and blue on the color wheel which means it takes both red and blue (teal is a blue) to make purple! Red is a primary color and purple is a mix—so, maybe that explains the test results. Red (strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love) mixed with purple (combines the stability of blue and the energy of red – purple is associated with wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic). Yep! Sounds like you are somewhere in those colors!
